The Provedores are a leading supplier of quality food products with 4 locations across New South Wales. They supply some of Australia’s most favoured brands and support local, independent artisan producers. The Provedores are all about delivering exceptional customer service. The business opened in October 2016 and collectively, the three owners of The Provedores have more than 80 years of experience in the food and hospitality industries.
The Provedores operate from Coffs Harbour, Byron Bay, Newcastle and Tamworth and have an extensive reach.
The Role
The Purchasing Officer is an integral role within the Newcastle team. It involves continuous interaction with suppliers while embodying our company's values and delivering exceptional customer service. You'll play a key role in building local operations and work towards achieving growth targets.
The ideal candidate will possess a passion for their work and a desire to expand and diversify their skill set within our organisation.

- Can work well in a high-paced environment with a strong focus on the details
- Is well organised and a good communicator
- Can bring a level of flexibility, adaptability and multi-tasking to the workplace
- Has practical time management skills and can prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
- Understands the importance of excellent customer service
- Strong computer skills, specifically Office Suite products (Word, Excel etc.)
- Has previous purchasing experience in a similar role is desirable not essential
- Has solid mathematical thinking and the ability to problem solve
Desirable Criteria
- Experience in food or perishable goods supply business
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders
- Understanding of purchasing/procurement process
- Has knowledge of inventory management
- Financial & mathematical literacy, strong critical thinking and analytical ability
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies regarding product quality, safety, and sustainability.
- Can communicate efficiently and effectively and is keen to develop their negotiation skills
