About the role
The Children and Family Resource Officer position sits within the Family and Sector Partnership unit and reports to the Team Leader Child & Family Resources. You will work closely with community and local organisations to co-design and deliver a diverse range of programs to engage and connect local families. This Includes supporting families to build self-confidence in their parenting and meeting the changing needs of their child and Family.
Our Children and Family Resource Officers co-design and facilitate the supported playgroup program, delivering playgroups across various age groups and facilitating home visits for our community.
Working closely with Wyndham families, you will strengthen their connections to community and services, whilst supporting their capacity as confident parents. You will support the delivery of child and Family programs and services to our community, targeting families with young children (0-5 years).
To be successful in this role it is integral that you have a strong understanding on building positive relationships with local families and working with and alongside community, including internal and external stakeholders. You will need to work both collaboratively as a team member and independently, and be innovative and flexible in your approach.
To maintain our high level of service delivery, it is a requirement that this role will work 30 hours over 5 days.
What you will deliver
- Engaging and inclusive Child and Family programs and services, which meet the changing needs of our diverse community
- Provide support guidance and opportunities for families in the areas of play experiences, child development and other areas identified by families
- Support, connections, and pathways for families to early childhood and Family support services
- Identify and implement training requirements in consultation with Team Leader Parent, Child and Family Team
- Build relationships with community and services to understand changing needs of family’s experiences and adapt and improve programs accordingly
What you will bring
- Diploma or Degree qualification in an Early Childhood discipline or equivalent
- Strong communication skills for building trust and rapport with community
- A strength based and Family centred approach that enhances Children and their family’s experiences and connections to community
- Experience in working with playgroups and parent groups is highly desirable
- Experience in identifying and implementing professional development training in early childhood
- Current valid employee Working with Children’s Check
- A valid Victorian driver’s licence
