A new opportunity has arisen for an experienced Quality Specialist to join a leading manufacturing in Melbourne's northern suburbs.
The Quality Specialist role ensures a high standard of Quality performance across the plant including all manufacturing, logistics, planning and warehousing operations, and products to maintain the highest quality performance for the employees, and customers (internal and external). This role will implement and ensure compliance with company policies, specifically pertaining to Quality, including FSASC 22000, FSC, ISO9001, Ethical sourcing, Halal and other relevant legislative and accreditation requirements.
Vital to this role is to carry out continuous improvement activities, and providing direction, support, and coaching to employees. This role will also drive Quality performance and improvement strategies / actions to achieve continuous improvement in plant and quality performance.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Actively demonstrate Safe behaviours and follow all Safety policies, procedures and standards.
Support the implementation of Safety policies, procedures or standards as appropriate.
Actively identify and report Safety hazards in a timely and accurate manner.
Support the implementation of HR policies, procedures or standards as appropriate.
Actively participate in HR and compliance training.
Provide leadership in quality improvement methodologies as part of the site leadership team.
Act with urgency to protect the customer and expedite return to steady state.
Accountable for performance metrics including but not limited to PPM, Blocked stock, spoilage and customer complaints.
Drive performance improvement by facilitating regular measured reviews with manufacturing departments.
Design and implement shop floor product/process quality control systems focusing on zero defect manufacturing methods
Design, implement and maintain an effective quality management system in accordance with corporate, regulatory or ISO certification requirements.
Lead quality improvement projects utilising industry best practice methods to solve problems and improve overall quality performance.
Liaise with other functions across SAC to ensure the voice of the customer is heard and the organisation drives for total customer satisfaction.
Ensure quality training programs and competency assessments are in place to cover the quality aspects of all job functions on site.
Ensure new products and product extensions are introduced in a systematic way and ensure customer requirements are achieved.
Lead and direct quality investigations as required.
Communication and reporting:
Update Regional reporting in timely manner
Ensure Monthly Management reporting of performance
Prepare quality communication for shop floor, field staff and office staff
Audits and External Testing:
Primary contact for all Quality Audits from certification bodies, customers and internal audit programmes
EDUCATION / TRAINING:
Related qualifications
Exposure to leading continuous improvement methodologies in quality/lean/engineering. eg Six Sigma, TPS, etc. (Mandatory)
KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE / PERSON PROFILE:
Absolute commitment to the highest quality standards in the workplace.
Proven experience (over 3 year of working experience) within a comparable industry, or similar role
Possess a high standard of communication and problem-solving skills.
Comfort in motivating others and create change and compliance in all layers of the organisation.
Strong Customer focus and ability to present in sales / customer environment on topics of quality.
Demonstrated ability to write reports, policies and procedures as well as being proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software for the development of the above.
Ability to work in a complex fast paced environment.
SAP experience is a plus
