About the role
We have an exciting opportunity available for an R &D and Production Chemist Leader. We are seeking a committeD and loyal individual to join the business and provide support to a great team in Operations. This role is based at Seven Hills, NSW.
The successful candidate will be able to understand the needs of product development in manufacturing. You will be re-engineering products for our local market, investigating complex technical matters, complete detailed reports and working with the manufacturing team to improve chemical handling safety, quality and efficient use of equipment. In addition, regular review of RMs and formulations for quality and cost improvements.
The successful candidate will be responsible leading a small team and will report to the National Operations Manager with a dotted line to the R & D Director for Asia Pacific.

Skills you will bring;
- Ability to formulate coating, membrane and sealant products to meet performance specifications
- Safe Work knowledge of laboratory equipment
- Knowledge of polymer chemistry. Specific knowledge in the areas of polyurethane, silicone and acrylic polymer technologies would be an advantage
- Practical experience with formula management and ERP software
- Experience with product scale up from lab to pilot plant to full scale manufacturing in batch type operations
- Ability to manage large cross-functional projects and teams
- Ability to understand relationships and connections and generate charts, graphs, spreadsheets and written summaries.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to take direction well and project manage
- Strong problem-solving abilities and processes
- Quality management experience and process execution
- Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint. SAP preferred
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, effective team player, self-motivated, quick learner
- At least four to six years’ experience, with significant authority to act and responsibility for supervising other laboratory staff. Also should be involved in ground-breaking development work where little precedent exists.
- Required: Bachelor’s/Postgraduate Degree degree in chemistry or polymer chemistry from a four-year college or university.
- Equivalent to APESMA Level 4.
