Based in the western suburbs of Sydney, this leading manufacturer of specialty paints and coatings is recruiting for an experienced R&D Chemist to support the innovation function supporting overall business objectives in accordance with WHS regulations and ISO9001 and APAS certifications. Reporting to the Technical Manager, this role will work closely with production and technical support. Regular interaction with customers on product related issues will be a core focus of this role.
Responsibilities include:
- Formulation of a wide range of coatings, e.g. automotive, industrial, marine - working on projects, delivering these on-time and within budget, including Product Development, Raw Material Evaluations and Work Requests.
- Quality Assurance tasks as required - ISO9001, APAS, NATA
- Chemical Compliance e.g. AICIS, GHS 7, REACH, TSCA - Maintenance of LIMS data on chemical hazards and SDS/Label maintenance.
- Quality control testing (where required) with accuracy, integrity and impartiality through operational timeliness
- Tertiary qualifications in chemistry/chemical engineering/industrial chemistry or related
- Experience in paints and coatings - solvent based, automotive
- Demonstrates an understanding of processes and formulations related to paints/coatings
- Experience with product reformulation/process development
- Excellent planning, coordinating, and organising skills.
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills.
