The Tiwi Land Council was established on the 18 August 1978, following representation by the Tiwi people to the Federal Government for recognition of their distinct geographic and cultural identity.
The Tiwi Land Council represents all Tiwi people in the protection of our land, sea, and environment, while at the same time supporting sustainable economic development to improve Tiwi lives through employment, income, education and health opportunities. Our reputation is founded on our cultural and leadership strengths, following in the footsteps of our visionary leaders.
Position Overview
As the Receptionist for the Land Council, you will be responsible for the provision of reception and general administration related support duties.
Role responsibilities
- Acting as the first and last point of contact for Council visitors and stakeholders and ensuring everyone is made to feel welcome by providing a friendly, courteous and professional service.
- Act as a back-fill to the Executive Assistant during periods of absence.
- Answering, screening and transferring incoming phone calls
- Collecting, sorting and distributing mail & parcels
- Raising purchase orders
- Ensuring the boardroom and kitchen are clean and tidy at all times.
- Assist with ordering stationary, office supplies and office furniture
- Organise catering for functions and events
- Co-ordinate travel arrangements
- Assist with monitoring and updating Council’s Facebook and Instagram page/s
- Any other duties, as directed.
Important Information
- This position is an identified position for Aboriginal people only. This is in accordance with the 'Special Measure' provisions outlined in the federal Racial Discrimination Act 1975 (Cth) and state and territory discrimination laws.
- Current Australian Drivers Licence (mandatory)
- Current Working with Children Check (Ochre Card) or, willingness to obtain
