The Role
Are you looking to advance your career utilising your rehabilitation expertise to coach and support a team of Claims Consultants in an alternative setting to make a real difference in people’s lives? This exciting role in life insurance is for you.
We have a 12-month Fixed Term opportunity available for an experienced Recovery Specialist. Reporting to the Manager, Rehabilitation Services, your primary responsibility is to provide evidence based occupational rehabilitation expertise to the Claims team.
In this role, you will:
- Provide coaching and advice to a team of Claims Consultants to help them better understand medical conditions, occupational and functional capacity;
- Ensure appropriate wellness and return to work strategies and services are in place for our customers;
- Apply your clinical reasoning and analysis to the development of case goals, strategies, actions and milestones throughout the life of the claim;
- Work collaboratively to deliver Recovery expertise within the team by providing best practice and viable recovery advice and solutions and to improve the quality of Wellbeing and Recovery knowledge across the team;
- Act as a point of reference for specialist recovery and rehabilitation information and advice;
- Manage and monitor external rehab providers to ensure rehab goals remain on track and are appropriate; and
- Challenge ‘Status Quo’ thinking and ensure a holistic approach of each customer’s condition and circumstances are considered when determining the best recovery and return to work options.
About you
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience as an occupational rehabilitation professional with qualifications in either Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Rehabilitation Counselling, Psychology or Exercise Physiology;
- Current registration with relevant professional body;
- Understanding of the Life Insurance industry;
- Experience in developing and coaching others;
- Experience working in a highly collaborative environment; and
- Working in a complex or multi-disciplinary team where members are interdependent for individual and team success.
