About the role

Bathurst Regional Council is committed to continually increase our internal capability and in alignment with the Our Region Our Future Community Strategic Plan (CSP), a 2-year contract opportunity now exists for an experienced Corporate Planner to join our Governance team.

As the Corporate Planner, you will facilitate and implement the Bathurst Regional Community Strategic Plan (Our Region Our Future) and provide hands on expertise towards Council's integrated planning and reporting framework. 

You will act as a champion for Council’s CSP and will provide guidance and support on corporate strategy, co-ordinate projects and work in partnership with internal and external stakeholders to successfully deliver these strategies and projects.

You will have the opportunity to lead communications and stakeholder engagement, including the provision of high quality and responsive information for stakeholders, and develop approaches for engagement, collaboration, and innovation that create improved value for Council and the community.

As part of your role, you will be leading the corporate planning activities to set and track business objectives, KPI’s, performance metrics and delivery of corporate reporting requirements. 

Key Requirements
  • Tertiary qualification and/or demonstrated experience in communication, business planning, management, corporate planning, governance, or related field with 2 or more years’ subsequent relevant experience;
  • Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of strategic organisational planning and reporting, preferably in a local government environment.
  • Proven experience in undertaking research and using data to develop strategic documents.
  • Possess a high level of written and verbal communication skills that result in effective and appropriate communication with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under limited direction to improve and enhance processes and practices, and achieve high quality results by taking a shared responsibility for setting priorities, organising workloads and meeting prescribed or self-imposed deadlines in a team environment.
  • Proven experience in the use of Microsoft Office products, including advanced word processing skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognise and respect confidentiality and privacy matters, including the possession of, or the ability to acquire, a satisfactory National Police Clearance Certificate.
  • Hold a current Class C Driver's Licence.

This position requires a pre employment health assessment which includes a functional, audio and drug & alcohol screen.

Salary: $1,764.30 to $1,853.59 per week + super

Position Status: Fixed Term Full Time (2 year contract) 

Hours of work: 35 hours per week with an RDO every third week
