About Us

Our mission is to brighten the lives of seriously ill children and their families. Our programs bring them fun, joy and laughter when they need it most, because happiness matters. When you join Starlight, you’ll:

  • Change lives for the better, positively impacting the lives of seriously ill children, young people, and their families.
  • Have inspiring and positive work. We work to our strengths, we care about each other, and we work collaboratively.
  • You’ll be included in an exceptional team. We’ve been recognised as a Great Place to Work, we’re one of AFR’s Most Innovative Companies and we’re also the most trusted children’s charity in Australia.
About the Role

At Starlight, we couldn’t do what we do every day without the significant contribution of our amazing volunteers. In this role you’ll make a BIG impact by attracting and recruiting the best people to volunteer in our programs and by engaging our existing volunteer community to ensure they have exceptional experiences.

As part of the People & Culture team, you'll report directly to the National Volunteer Manager, and work closely with each functional team across Starlight. This is a great opportunity to flex your communication muscles and become an advocate for Starlight's programs and attract the right people to volunteer within our programs. On any given day you could be chatting with prospective candidates, on-boarding new recruits, strategising for future recruitment needs or developing creative strategies to engage our existing volunteer community.

About you

  • Ideally, you have some recruitment experience (agency or internal).
  • You're a great communicator with exceptional influencing and interpersonal skills.
  • You love creating positive experiences and building professional relationships.
  • You're a natural at working to tight deadlines.
  • You are detail-focused and great with systems (we use JobAdder as our ATS), following processes and championing policies to ensure compliance.
  • You pride yourself on your strategic influencing and decision-making skills to ensure recruitment goals are met.
Benefits
As well as the real joy of seeing the positive difference your work makes in the lives of others, our unique benefits support you at any life stage:
  • Best Self leave days, additional carer’s leave. And a commitment to our flexible working philosophy.
  • Leave to support reproductive health.
  • Leave options for pet owners (because pets are family too!).
  • Public Holiday swap options & the potential to work from anywhere in the world for 20 days a year.
  • A commitment to supporting your mental health and wellbeing.
  • Development and growth opportunities in a workplace underpinned by positive psychology.
Our goal is to be the most inclusive workplace in Australia. We welcome candidates from all cultural backgrounds, and encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, members of the LGBTIQA+ community, people with diverse abilities and those who are mature aged or just starting out in their careers.
We are committed to positive employment experiences in an environment where everyone is included, respected, safe and treated fairly, so you can be your best and true self every day.   If we can make accommodations to our recruitment process to better enable you to shine, please include this in your application.  Starlight's vision for reconciliation is to embed values of awareness, acknowledgement, and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and their culture within our organisation.
Successful applicants will undertake a Working With Children Check and a National Police Check.
