Looking for a way to make a positive impact in your community? Consider becoming a volunteer for the TRISS Program in Parramatta! Our Outreach Program is designed to provide support and encouragement to consumers and carers through regular check-ins and friendly conversations.
What kind of Volunteer work will I be doing?
As a TRISS Program volunteer, you'll have the opportunity to build meaningful connections with program participants, who will be able to choose the days and times that work best for them to receive calls. This flexibility ensures that participants can access the support they need, when they need it. Whether they're in a regional area and feeling isolated, dealing with social challenges, or just looking for extra support, this program can help.
In addition to the Outreach Program, volunteers will also have the opportunity to work with One Door Information & Support Line, a state-wide telephone helpline that provides assistance to callers who may live with or care for someone living with mental illness, or health professionals and community agencies. The helpline is open 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday, and volunteers will respond to inbound calls, email inquiries, and make outbound calls to help connect callers with the resources they need.
Time Required: 3-4 hours a week between Monday to Friday for 12 months or longer. Shifts are 9AM - 1PM OR 1PM - 5PM (we can arrange a suitable day and time for you).
Who can Volunteer?
We are seeking volunteers who have empathy, an understanding of the impact of mental illness and good listening and communication skills. Volunteers include people who want to make a positive difference to the lives of consumers and carers and we encourage all individuals with experience in psychology, social work and human services to apply.
