Regional Community Engagement Lead

(Parental Leave Backfill)

Northern Territory PHN leads the development and coordination of an equitable, comprehensive primary health care system and an engaged health workforce driven by community needs.

Salary: $111,221 + Super

About the Opportunity

The Regional Community Engagement Lead position involves actively engaging with and supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across the Northern Territory. Its primary goal is to foster connections between community needs and the activities of the Northern Territory Primary Health Network. The Community Engagement Lead will provide regional insights into various community issues, facilitating platforms for healthcare discussions and community yarning.

Through a community-focused and co-design approach, this position empowers communities to communicate innovative service delivery ideas to the NT PHN in a culturally sensitive manner. Responsibilities include offering valuable consumer and community input on regional activities, policies, plans, and projects. The position will also actively suggest and support additional opportunities for consumer engagement while collaboratively addressing critical regional health service challenges.

About the role

Reporting to the Executive Manager Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health, the Regional Community Engagement Lead is accountable for:

  • Taking a lead role in supporting the Community Engagement and co-design support functions in commissioning of primary health services and activities for NT PHN in line with organisational requirements and allocated regions.
  • Working collaboratively and respectfully across branches to build strong and trusting relationships, maximise outcomes, reduce duplication, ensure organisational integration and efficiency.
  • Attending and supporting community events, engagement activities, training events, provider events across the Northern Territory on behalf of the NT PHN.
  • Prepare and support the development of documentation with recommendations that are accurate and succinct, including needs assessments, business cases, briefing notes, discussion papers, subject reports, guidelines, policies and procedures and any other documentation as required by the Executive Manager, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health..
  • Working collaboratively and effectively with the Executive Manager, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health and all internal staff by contributing to NT PHN's continued development and continuous improvement in the implementation of the organisation's Reconciliation Action Plan and Cultural Respect Framework deliverables.
  • Supporting the Executive Manager, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health with regional insights and strategic advice regarding Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Health matters specifically focusing upon alignment to the Closing the Gap and Aboriginal Health Plan priorities.
  • Providing regional insights to the Senior Executive Leadership Team in monthly Regional Community Engagement Lead reports.

THIS ROLE IS DESIGNATED AS INDIGENOUS IDENTIFIED AS IT IS INTENDED TO CONSTITUTE A SPECIAL MEASURE UNDER S 8 (1) OF THE RACIAL DISCRIMINATION ACT 1975 (CTH) AND S 57 (1) OF THE ANTI-DISCRIMINATION ACT 1992 (NT).
