Job description

At Lives Lived Well, we’ve been treating and supporting young people and adults whose lives are affected by alcohol and other drugs for over 50 years. We also support people with mental health and gambling concerns and those transitioning from correctional centres.

We’re growing fast and building a reputation as a trusted, innovative provider, focused on clinical excellence… and we’d love you to be part of it.

If you have compassion, the ability to work without judgment and share our belief that with the right support people can change, then join us and open up your career in human services.

We are committed to celebrating the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We offer ceremonial and NAIDOC leave and have established a support network for our First Nations staff, to build relationships, share knowledge and debrief.

About the Service

CREST (Community Re-Entry Services Team) is our corrective services re-entry program being offered in Far North & Central Queensland. The challenges that people face on release can cause stress and worry. However, with support, they can get their lives back on track. CREST works to help people plan their release, connecting them to the right community supports.

Your opportunity

In this full-time ongoing position, you will provide clinical and operational management for our Community Re-entry Services Team working across Cairns and the Lotus Glen Correctional Centre. You will support 4 Re-Entry Support Officers, 2 community and 2 custodial.

What does this mean?

Wellyou will provide leadership and guidance to the team, including setting the services priorities, balancing the needs of the stakeholders and clients against that of the funder. You will foster team cohesion, ensuring the team do their best work. This role is highly administrative and operational, you will monitor the budget within set parameters, therefore you’ll have a keen eye for detail and ability to set and manage competing priorities.

Duties include:

  • Provide operational, organisational and client reporting
  • Interact with existing services internal and external to LLW
  • Ensure that client records, data collection and reporting are consistent with confidentiality and relevant practice standards
  • Engage with and develop productive relationships with relevant stakeholders
  • Work collaboratively with funding partner and partnered service delivery agencies
  • Constructively and positively participate in the development, improvement and implementation of systems and processes, including any requirements of an accreditation process.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to team members including setting priorities, monitoring work outcomes and ensuring work is performed in alignment with organisational goals, service contract/s and LLW policies and procedures
  • Co-ordinate and lead team meetings, stakeholder meetings, and undertake supervision with staff.

What you’ll bring

You’re empathetic but resilient, and have a proven strategic and results driven mindset. You are a master communicator, both written and verbal.

To succeed in this role, there are some essentials you’ll need:

  • Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander people and communities.
  • Highly developed consultation, communication and interpersonal skills, to engage effectively with diverse clients, staff and stakeholders.
  • Significant experience in assessment, case coordination and case management with vulnerable people from diverse backgrounds with complex needs (e.g. homelessness, mental health, AOD, CALD including Indigenous backgrounds and/or people with disabilities).
  • Substantial experience working within culturally secure programs and a clear articulation of these values.
  • Ability to prioritise clinical and administrative duties, including the effective and efficient planning and organisation of a complex caseload.
  • Ability to collate key documentation to support staff supervision and manage key reporting requirements.
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant human service discipline (for example, Social Work, Psychology or allied health) or equivalent proven experience knowledge and skills in a similar role.

While not essential, we’d also love you to have:

  • Demonstrated experience leading and mentoring teams.

What matters most is that you’ll live and breathe our values, which means:

  • You are humble, human and full of hope.
  • You show up and share.
  • You ask: Why not? And what’s next?
  • You leave a positive wake.

Why? We believe that through these values, we do our best work - for each other, for clients, and for the communities we work in. And it’s a promise we make to you about the kind of experience you will have working for us.

Why work for Lives Lived Well?

Well, it’s about people, purpose, impact and growth.

You’ll love working with talented people who share our values. Our services and treatments are as diverse as the communities we work in. And we’ve grown significantly in the past few years, with no plans of slowing down.

So, what does that mean for you? A real opportunity to go further!

  • You’ll grow as a person and as a professional, extending your knowledge and skills beyond the norm.
  • You’ll be trusted with autonomy in a supportive, respectful environment.
  • You’ll make a lasting impact - on clients, the community and a team that cares as much as you.

But it’s more than that.

You’ll join a curious team that thinks differently and seeks new ways. We look to the evidence. We explore new ideas. And when we reach “better”, we ask, “What’s next?” Which means you’ll need to be comfortable with change - you’ll enjoy variety, the agility, and the opportunity to achieve more, faster.

While you support others, we’ll support you with some great benefits, including:

  • An extra five paid leave days per year to support your wellbeing and work-life balance.
  • Salary packaging to increase your take-home pay
  • Paid parental leave of 8 weeks.
  • Regular clinical supervision, case conferencing and debriefings.
  • An employee assistance program (EAP) for you and your family, including emotional, psychological, financial counselling and wellbeing services.
  • Fitness Passport membership access to a wide range of gyms, pools, and fitness and leisure centres across Australia, at a discounted rate

Check out more employee benefits for you and your loved ones on our careers page.
