Thirrili Ltd is uniquely positioned as Australia’s only national Indigenous postvention service. Ours is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation, established to support individuals, families and communities impacted by suicide through bereavement and healing journeys. We do this through the provision of case management and community capacity building. All our families and communities have healed from trauma and choose to live their lives in acknowledgement of our deep ancestral connections, drawing on cultural ways of knowing, being and doing, and supporting our people to thrive and flourish in this and future generations.
Position overview
Working in partnership with the Executive Manager Service Delivery and CEO, the Regional Coordinator is responsible for leading strategic regional and local level community, as well as at the State/Territory level, capacity building in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Regional Coordinators are required to manage and lead a team of Advocates across multiple jurisdictions to ensure quality, coordinated services are provided to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander individuals, families and communities.
Qualifications & experience
Qualifications in either Mental Health; Social & Emotional Wellbeing; Counselling; Psychology; Social Work or Aboriginal Health Workers/Practitioners or other relevant disciplines are mandatory, together with at least 3 years’ experience in provision of social, cultural and emotional wellbeing services.
• Demonstrated experience in working in interagency partnerships to strengthen the health, social and emotional wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
• Demonstrated understanding of the underlying principles of good practice associated with working in trauma informed ways with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, providing culturally safe care, and building community resilience and wellbeing.
• Demonstrated experience with, and understanding of, community engagement and capacity building and development.
Essential:
Demonstrated well-developed experience in managing and leading teams and services.
• A well-developed understanding of the contributing factors associated with suicide in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and the elements of culturally responsive interventions to support communities minimise harm, build resilience and strengthen social and emotional wellbeing.
• Demonstrated experience in operational and business planning and reporting.
• Demonstrated ability to build effective and productive working relationships, both internally and externally.
• A well-developed understanding of the health and community service system to support people at risk of suicide and build resilience amongst individuals, families and communities.
• Demonstrated well-developed written and oral communication and interpersonal skills and ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including facilitation and negotiation skills.
• Demonstrated ability to build strong partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, service providers, including Aboriginal community-controlled organisations and non-government/not for profit organisations and government departments.
• Capacity to work independently and exercise sound judgement, whilst being a good team player.
• A genuine commitment to act in accordance with service’s mission and values.

Special Condition
