Job description

Are you passionate about engaging with and supporting health professionals and students? Do you have excellent communication skills and the ability to foster strong relationships? If so, we have an exciting new opportunity for you to join our team as a Regional Engagement Officer focused on engaging with paramedics and student paramedics. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who can drive engagement and attract new members to the College.

About the College

The Australasian College of Paramedicine (the College) is the peak professional association for paramedics in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. The College represents and supports over 10,000 paramedics and student paramedics. The College champions the role of paramedics in emergency, urgent and primary care, and we are committed to enhancing person-centred care for the community.

About the role

After a department review and desire to improve member engagement, the College is looking for a Regional Engagement Officer to enhance our member and profession engagement and service delivery, and achieve strong membership growth across a defined region (QLD/NT and potentially one other).

This is a great opportunity for a relationship expert with strong engagement and communication skills to make this role their own, working with our Member Engagement Manager and Conference and Events Manager to deliver a range of programs, services and events for members.

The role requires relationship building experience with a focus on growing engagement and membership sales, ideally in the not-for-profit / member association space.

Note: This is a new role requiring flexibility and initiative to drive its success. The successful candidate will receive training and support to be able to speak confidently about the College and membership.

Role detail

  • This is a full-time role offered on 12 month contract with opportunity to extend.
  • ACP has a remote-based, work from home workforce, meaning the Regional Engagement Officer will work from their own home office.
  • The role has a travel requirement of approximately 75%, with the majority being within greater Brisbane, Gold Coast and Sunshine coast, but regular trips to regional QLD and interstate requiring overnight and multi-night stays is part of the role.

Key Accountabilities

  • Drive strong engagement with College offerings and recruitment of members by attending, presenting and speaking with paramedics and students about the College at:
    • ambulance service events, stations and hospitals
    • university events, lectures and society activities
    • other events and activities within the region
  • Build strong relationships and act as a liaison with ambulance services induction, education and operational teams, and university deans, program leads and lecturers to ensure the College is a trusted partner and considered as part of all activities.
  • Work with the Member Engagement Manager and the Marketing and Communication Manager to deliver effective communications, implement member recruitment and retention strategies and campaigns for the region.
  • Organise, coordinate and deliver local and regional events, including coordinating online events from the region, with presenters, volunteer organisers and College staff.

Key Competencies

  • Communication skills, especially public speaking and presenting
  • Influencing others
  • Relationship building
  • Planning and organising
  • Customer focus

Role benefits

  • Genuine work-life balance with home working and flexible working arrangements. The College is currently trialling a 4 Day Work Week.
  • Laptop and mobile phone provided, as well as additional home office equipment as required.
  • Collaborative and inclusive work environment with values-based culture.
  • Work with a team of remote workers who are passionate about what we do and the impact we make.
  • Opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the paramedic community and contribute to the growth of the College.
  • Professional development and training opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
  • Access to Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

Selection criteria

Essential:

  1. Minimum 3 years’ experience in relationship building roles, with ability to confidently engage and relate to a wide range of people from university students through to experienced professionals.

  3. Demonstrated experience and ability to communicate, present and speak publicly to potential members / customers, influencing behaviour and action.
