In partnership with the Australia Defence Force, we are seeking a Regional Environmental Manager to support our Defence Base Services contract in South Australia.
This is a permanent, full time role and can be based at Keswick Barracks or RAAF Edinburgh.
Reporting to the Project Director for the Southeast Zone (SEZ), the South Australian Regional Environmental Manager will be responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of land management strategies, policies and programmes that promote sustainable long-term use of the Defence Estate. This role acts as a key liaison between the business and the client on land management contract matters.
Duties will include but not be limited to:
- Developing and implementing land management strategies and action plans that ensure sustainable long-term Defence capability.
- Ensure timely development and delivery of key landscape management programs, including but not limited to, Bushfire Mitigation, Weed Control, Feral & Overabundant Native Species Control, Groundwater / Surface Water and Tree Risk Management.
- Ensure delivery of the annual Land Management Maintenance Schedules (LMMS) in collaboration with Defence at the Regional and National level.
- Lead coordination of the national Pest & Vermin (P&V) and Land Management (LM) deliverables under the DBS contract with emphasis on the outdoor facilities management aspects with support to management of biosecurity, overabundant native species and pest and vermin species.
- Focus on sustainability and continual improvement in Ventia's delivery and support to Defence capability.
- Participate in internal and external audit programs of the P&V and LM deliverable, and assist in the resolution of audit findings.
- Lead the implementation of land management Defence policies and practices.
- Coordinate subcontractors or an in-house workforce delivering sustainable land management across Defence Bases / Ranges Areas for South Australia.
- Qualifications and experience in Natural Resource Management, Ecology, Environmental Science or similar discipline
- Experience with GIS and spatial data management systems
- Project or Facilities Management experience
- Proficient use of Microsoft Project, Excel, and Word.
- Ability to use GIS and mobile data capture to record / observe environmental data
- Results focused with the ability to identify and prioritise problems and issues, generate solutions and work collaboratively to achieve a successful outcome.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously with a high degree of motivation, energy, initiative, and commitment, with the capacity to deal with multiple and often conflicting priorities.
- Ability to balance the requirements of working in a secure environment whilst promoting healthy routines for clients.
