The Adolescent Unit is currently recruiting, we are a 14 - 16 bedded unit that provides care to patients between the ages of 10 and 18 years our case mix is predominantly medical, surgical, mental health and chronic/complex health conditions. The unit cares for high acuity and/or high dependency patients, excellent opportunities exist to develop advanced skills in areas such as tracheostomy management, ventilation, complex multi-level gastrointestinal surgery and orthopaedic surgery.
The nurse to patient ratio from 1:1 to 1:4 and is variable according to patient needs. Shifts are twelve hours, morning shift commencing at 0700 and night shift 1900. We promote partnership-in-care with the families in a family friendly environment.
• The Nursing Unit Manager, a Ward Clinical nurse educator who works Monday - Friday, clinical nurse specialists and clinical nurse consultants in a variety of specialty areas throughout the hospital.
• Each new staff member is allocated a preceptor and they are offered an extended period of time of supernumerary based on individual needs and paediatric experience.
- Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Demonstrated excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Recent paediatric experience as a Registered Nurse in a hospital setting.
- Effective time management skills
- Computer literacy.
