About the Role
This is a Permanent Full Time or Part Time position at 0.5 - 1.0 FTE / 40 - 80hrs per fortnight within the Butterfly Ward, Newborn Intensive Care Unit.
You will be responsible for:

  • Providing high quality nursing care to infants and their families
  • Acting as an expert clinical practitioner and working with the wider multidisciplinary team
What you'll achieve:
  • Using evidence based practice and a holistic approach to individualised nursing care; assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for babies within the clinical area
  • Actively support and promote the involvement of parents/carers in the planning, management and evaluation of care
  • Maintaining a proactive approach to the development of clinical skills within the unit ensuring that practice reflects best practice standards, local and national policies and are in keeping with relevant professional standards
Classification for this position will range from YP4-YP9 Grade 2 Year 3 to Year 8 (base salary $75,134 to $95,378 per annum, plus superannuation)
Your skills and experience:
  • Proven recent experience working within a neonatal setting - Special Care Nursery or Neonatal Intensive Care, or Adult Intensive Care experience
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing personal and professional development, as evidenced in a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) record/ Professional Practice Portfolio (PPP)
  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) administered though the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA)
  • Holds or actively working towards Post Graduate Certificate in Neonatal/ Paediatric Intensive Care Nursing, or Adult Intensive Care

About Butterfly Ward, Newborn Intensive Care:
The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is a Level 6b quaternary-level referral service which provides intensive and high-dependency family-centred care to approximately 800 infants each year. Infants with a wide range of complex medical and surgical conditions are managed in the NICU. However, the Unit is particularly well recognised for it's expertise in the management of infants with severe respiratory failure complicated by pulmonary hypertension, complex congenital malformations, airway obstruction, and a wide range of surgical conditions, particularly congenital diaphragmatic hernia and oesophageal atresia.
