Salary: $104,901 - $114,988 p.a. + 11% superannuation contribution

Apunipima Cape York Health Council is a community controlled Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander health service, which provides culturally appropriate, family centred, Primary Health Care services to the communities and people of Cape York.
About the Opportunity
The Registered Nurse – PHC is responsible for delivering evidence based Primary Health Care nursing services consistent with the Apunipima Way and Model of Care, to maximise health outcomes for the people of Cape York. As the Registered Nurse – PHC, you will work independently in Cape York locations to deliver quality services including child and family health, health education activities and chronic disease management.
This is a FIFO position from Cairns. A typical week involves flying out from Cairns on Monday morning and returning to Cairns on Friday. You will be provided with accommodation and a travel allowance as a FIFO employee.
Pre-employment screening for vaccination against Vaccine Preventable Diseases will be conducted for the successful applicant.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
- A degree qualification in Nursing with current registration with Australian Health Practice Registration Authority (APHRA) as a Registered Nurse (Division 1)
- Queensland immunisation endorsement
- Current Queensland Drivers Licence
- Proven experience as a Practice Nurse or Registered Nurse in a Primary Health Care setting
- Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate and evaluate client care across the Primary Health Care continuum
- Demonstrated experience and competence in clinical problem solving
- High level nursing knowledge and skills to assess, plan, implement and evaluate client care
- Demonstrated competency in compliance with clinical environment requirements, particularly in relation to infection control and management of cold chain process
- A high level understanding of the importance of quality, safety and risk in a healthcare environment
- High level knowledge of legislation, standards, policies and procedures relevant to contemporary nursing practice and specific to Primary Health Care
- Advanced interpersonal and communication skills that support competent nursing practice, mentoring of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workers, and working within a multidisciplinary team environment
- Understanding of the historical and contemporary issues that impact on Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people and their communities, particularly in Cape York
- Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people in accordance with community protocols and customs
