The role:
Assist with the provision of paediatric and neonatal services within Women's and Children's Services at the Launceston General Hospital (LGH).

The Launceston General Hospital is seeking two enthusiastic Paediatric Registrars to join our team for 2024! With the implementation of the new EBA providing competitive wages and paid education time, there is no better time to work in Tasmania.
These positions will centre around a brand new and exciting Paediatric short stay unit; as well as rotating shifts covering the new 34 bed General Paediatric ward, 12 bed Level 2 neonatal nursery and Paediatric outpatients. The unit is staffed 24 hours a day by registrars and HMO staff, with consultant oversight on site during working hours, and on call overnight. The current staffing is 8 registrars/ HMO, a Senior Registrar and 7 paediatric consultants.
You will work as a day worker, but after hours work and weekend rotations will be required as rostered. Current hours would be 76 hours PLUS 10 protected training time hours.
We pride ourselves on being a lovely supportive team and you will be very well supported in this position. The unit has an active education program and is accredited by the RACP for Advanced Training for General Paediatrics with a Perinatal Component, Community/ Developmental Paediatrics and rural rotations. We are also a secondment site for basic trainees from the Royal Hobart Hospital, and if you are early in your career, this position will be a good springboard to entering the training program in 2025.
We are open to flexible conditions encompassing full time or part time positions and will negotiate longer contracts if desired.
Details of Appointment
Fixed Term full time day worker position with on call and weekend rotations working 76 hours per fortnight plus 10 hrs protected training time, commencing as soon as you are able to join the team until 1st August 2025.

Salary:
Medical Practitioner Level 5 - 11 $131,000- $183,500 per annum, pro rata + 11% superannuation + access to salary packaging
- Salary range is in accordance with Salaried Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2022
- Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:
- General or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia
- Enrolled in the relevant speciality training program
- Current Working with Children Registration
Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:
- Successfully completed all fellowship examinations relevant to the training program and employment, and is within 1 year of obtaining specialist fellowship
- Registration as a candidate of the relevant learned college, or evidence of ongoing participation in and a commitment to continuing medical education
