The Role
Exciting opportunities exist in Defence’s Directorate of APS Rehabilitation in Defence People Group for enthusiastic and motivated individuals who are keen to work in a dynamic, busy and challenging environment. The positions of Rehabilitation Advisor and Rehabilitation Case Managers (RCM) centre on the delivery of high quality, timely and individually tailored advice and guidance and/or case management and return to work services.
A key aspect of the role is fostering working relationships with managers, employees, and allied health professionals. In this role you will be responsible for managing a caseload to achieve satisfactory outcomes for both the employee and Defence; this may include the appointment of rehabilitation providers, consulting with medical professionals and liaising with Comcare. Our Rehabilitation Advisor/RCMs collaborate with colleagues across the People domain to deliver integrated, customer focused solutions.
About our Team
The Directorate of APS Rehabilitation, within the Defence People Group, provides advice and guidance to assist managers and supervisors in the management of injured or ill APS employees so they remain at work or return to work as quickly and safely as possible.
- Our Rehabilitation Advisers provide initial advice and guidance to APS employees and/or their supervisors, regarding the management of work and non-work related illness and injuries.
- RCMs are responsible for: the provision of case management support, if required, to support ill or injured APS employees. This includes providing quality support to stakeholders and tailored return-to-work plans to suit the individual employee.
Effective case management involves communication and coordination between stakeholders to ensure information collection and sharing, as well as providing opportunities for consultation and feedback. The Team collaborate with colleagues across the People domain and more broadly across the Enabling groups to deliver integrated, customer focused solutions.
Our Ideal Candidate
You need to be customer focused and have the ability to manage relationships with multiple parties across a variety of people issues, ranging in complexity and sensitivity.
- Advisors / RCMs select, gather and examine information to arrive at workable solutions or appropriate advice, within the parameters of established policies and legislation.
- Essential to the role is proactive communication and the coordination of day-to-day case management to drive optimum and sustained outcomes.
- This is a fast-paced operational environment and the ability to meet tight deadlines while managing competing priorities is essential.
- The successful applicants will have superior problem solving, time management skills, and demonstrate resilience and the ability to work in a complex environment.
- Liaison and client responsiveness are critical features of these roles.
