The Opportunity

As a hands-on and independent Cook/Chef, you will support our bustling kitchens and dining rooms across 20 retirement living communities located in South East Queensland and Northern NSW. In this highly autonomous role, you will enjoy travelling across our villages to assist with leave coverage for our existing Chefs, Cooks and Food & Beverage staff to ensure that the daily meal services and restaurants are operating smoothly. You'll enjoy meeting new staff, connecting with residents, travelling to see our wonderful villages but above all, you'll have a passion for gold-standard meals! As a hands-on and well-rounded Chef, you'll have experience in volume catering with high standards of meal presentation. Our retirement villages span from Peregian Springs down to Murwillumbah, and from Toowoomba to the Redlands area. This is a full-time position working ordinarily Monday-Friday 10.30-6.30pm however weekend work will be expected. Penalty rates, phone & car allowances are included in this role.

You will:

• Reporting to the Regional Support Manager, plan out your days & weeks to determine what Aveo village requires your assistance
• Complete daily travels to Aveo villages and be hands-on in the kitchen to prepare, cook, present and deliver meal services with high attention to detail
• Follow the set menus organised by the Food Services team to ensure meal services are of high quality and consistent
• Assist the Food & Beverage team with minor FOH duties if required (it means connecting with our residents!)
• Ensure all food safety plans and OH&S procedures are being carried out to 100% compliance
• Communicate any ordering, stock, safety or maintenance issues with the team
• Manage the maintenance and cleanliness of kitchen equipment

What you'll bring

• Experience in catering/kitchen/hospitality settings (e.g experience in Cook or Chef roles). Bonus points if you've worked as an Agency, FIFO or Roving Chef before!
• Certificate III in Commerical Cookery (highly desired)
• Drivers license and reliable vehicle to travel around to our villages (required)
• A friendly and warm persona with a passion for food and great team work!
• Current Police check (required, but we can complete for you!)
• Minimum of two (2) COVID-19 Vaccinations (required)
