The opportunity
The Hutchins School, established in 1846, is an Anglican Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12 day and boarding school in Hobart, Tasmania. We are an Anglican school whose supportive learning community works together to nurture humility, kindness, courage and respect.
The School Nurse plays a vital role in the school and works as part of a multidisciplinary team, caring for the wellbeing of our students.
The role
Throughout the year The Hutchins School will require the assistance of relief Nurses who will work on an as need basis.
The school Nurse works independently and is available to support the whole of the school, often being called out to the Junior, Middle and Senior School should medical assistance be required. The School Nurse is also responsible for the wellbeing of the 37 boarding students who live on campus in Burbury House. The role is also a key contributor to the stimulating and safe residential experience of students living in the boarding house, providing practical support to the Head of Boarding with the care for boarders unable to attend school due to illness.
The School Nurse manages medication plans, liaises with parents/carers, General Practitioners and other Allied Health Professionals as required. The role also includes the safe transportation of boarders to medical appointments.
