About the Role
Teaching at Language Disorder Australia is about supporting the Language Disorder Australia Mission to educate, support and advocate for children and young people with Language Disorder, so that they can connect, belong and achieve.
Key Criteria
- Full registration, or current provisional registration as a teacher in Queensland.
- Commitment to engage with colleagues, students, and parents/carers to achieve the best outcomes.
- Knowledge of best practice and procedures in relation to working with students with disability for whom language is their primary disorder.
- Knowledge and understanding of the comorbidities associated with Language Disorder, such as autism, ADHD and ASD
Key Criteria specific to years 1&2 (desirable)
- Experienced early years teacher.
- Experience with synthetic phonics instruction and/or science of reading.
- Experience with diverse needs and an understanding of and experience in catering for diverse learning needs.

Mancel College is a specialist Prep to Year 12 school for students with Language Disorder. Our students come from far and wide, with many of our families becoming part of the local community or commuting from the wider Brisbane area. The College is operated by Language Disorder Australia.
Our expert team of teachers, therapists and support staff at Mancel College ensures that our students fulfil their learning and communication potential while overcoming barriers, allowing them to become confident, independent people, achieving extraordinary outcomes.
We provide the Australian curriculum with a differentiated teaching model to meet the needs of every individual. Speech and language therapy, occupational therapy and physiotherapy are integrated throughout the curriculum. We also offer a range of wonderful activities through our co-curricular program.
