- Working for an excellent Aboriginal Health Service, across 4 health centres located in multiple towns within the Kimberley, as well as a mobile prevention unit
Key Responsibilities
As a Renal Nurse, you will be delivering culturally safe nursing care in accordance with unit protocols and best practice guidelines. At times, you will be required to take the role of Shift Coordinator. Some of your responsibilities may include:
- Supervising new staff and facilitating their education
- Collaborating with other healthcare professionals, including nephrologists, dietitians, social workers, and pharmacists, to provide comprehensive care and support to renal patients
- The provision of thorough education to patients and their families regarding renal disease management, including dietary restrictions, medication adherence, fluid intake control, and signs of complications
- Involvement in quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing the delivery of renal care, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing evidence-based practices to optimise patient outcomes
- Administering and monitoring dialysis treatments, ensuring proper machine setup, monitoring patient response, and managing any complications that may arise during the procedure.
- You will be based in the heart of the Kimberley Region. Waterfalls, ancient Aboriginal rock art, wonderful wildlife, freshwater swimming holes and white sandy beaches... the Kimberley region has it all!
- Current AHPRA registration with no restrictions
- At least (6) months of recent experience in renal nursing
- Applicants with at least 18 months of experience in haemodialysis nursing, or working towards a Certificate in Nephrology will be highly regarded
- Current Working with Children's Check
- Current National Crime Check
- Ability to assess complex patient situations, analyse data, and develop appropriate nursing interventions to address the needs of renal patients effectively
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Commitment to providing patient-centered care, with a focus on promoting patient autonomy, dignity, and quality of life while managing the challenges of chronic kidney disease
