The Role:
An opportunity exists for a motivated Research Assistant to join the NECTAR (Northern Clinical Diagnostics and Thrombovascular Research) team at Northern Health.
This is a fixed term full time role (80 hours per fortnight) until February 2025
This role will be responsible for the conduct of research projects under the guidance of the NECTAR Executive Committee and relevant project Principal Investigators. This role includes research administrative duties, performing laboratory procedures including processing of clinically harvested biological fluids, research administrative duties, supporting and assisting other services with sample processing as well as direct involvement in pathology-related biobanking and sample analysis.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Experience and good working knowledge of research enterprise and project conduct including developing research proposals, monitoring research budget, setting up and validating new research techniques, writing up and presenting research work
- Proven ability to work within the standards of care in the defined research projects and protocols, SOPs and practice guidelines of NECTAR, hospital policies & procedures to ensure adherence to and delivery of a high-quality service.
- To contribute to teaching and provide guidance as required to staff and students assisting in research
- To work collaboratively with colleagues and actively participate as a member of the research team, as well as maintain effective communication with other researchers, students and members of the team and organization.
