Employment Type: Part Time- 14 hours per week

Remuneration: $82,818 pro rata+ 17% super + annual leave loading
Location: Kensington, NSW
Why this role matters:
The Research Assistant will play a key role in supporting a research project as part of a multidisciplinary team of researchers in the area of Justice Health. The position will provide research and administrative assistance to senior research staff in activities associated with one research project: Cross-sector health and information sharing pathways for justice involved individuals.
The role will report to the Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the Justice Health Research Program, at the School of Population Health, and has one direct report.
Key Accountabilities (but not limited to):
Provision of practical and efficient research support to the research team, assisting in the conduct of research that contributes to a better understanding of health information sharing in the justice system.
Undertake a range of research activities alongside, and under the regular supervision of, the senior researchers. Activities include recruiting government and community stakeholders for research, conducting online interviews as per a fixed interview schedule, transcribing data, assisting with various databases, preparing regular progress reports for the research team, taking meeting minutes and other administrative tasks.
Proactively assist with ethics applications, research reports, presentations, and progress reports.
Assist with the technical aspects of databases, including coordinating and executing data cleaning, data management processes and ensuring research integrity in research databases.
Skills Required:
A university degree in public health, medicine, psychology, or related discipline, or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through a combination of education, training or experience.
Experience assisting a health-related research project involving qualitative methodologies (as a Research Assistant, student or other).
Experience creating and maintaining working relationships with government stakeholders or community-based organisations.
Familiarity with administrative and other key research processes at UNSW (preferred).
Demonstrable interest in hard to reach or underserved populations on topics of health equity.
Demonstrated ability to effectively manage part-time research support/administrative roles.
Experience working with a range of computer systems and applications (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Powerpoint and NVivo) for the purposes of organising and recording meetings, preparing presentations, and managing qualitative research data.
Demonstrated strong interpersonal communication skills to initiate and maintain effective stakeholder relationships whilst exercising discretion and confidentiality.
Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks with initiative.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail and the ability to liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders.
An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
