The Malaria Atlas Project (MAP) is an international research collaboration that tracks the global fight against malaria which combines innovative data and analytics, global collaboration, and local engagement to deliver insights for impactful malaria policy and control. This internationally renowned research collaboration is funded by the Bill Gates
Foundation and has a core team at the Telethon Kids Institute and Curtin University in Perth, Ifakara Health Institute in Tanzania and has members in Europe, the USA, Africa and Asia.
This high performing team now have an exciting opportunity for two Research Assistants to join the team and assist in the preparation of model inputs, implementation of workflows, and dissemination of results, including assisting writing papers for peer reviewed publication and presenting results. In addition, this role will provide support for our engagement with collaborators.
Some of your duties will include but not be limited to:
Undertake and support literature reviews, data searches and data extraction.Obtain, manage, and conduct preliminary processing and analysis on a variety of tabular datasets.Be responsible with others for general IT housekeeping, including maintenance of back-ups, documentation of protocols, and review of procedures.Understand and engage with the processes around MAP’s collaborations with IHME (Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation) and CHAIContribute text, maps, and figures for publications, to be credited via co- authorships.Based at our wonderful, open plan offices in Perth Children’s Hospital, this role will be offered until 30 June 2025 initially.
About You
The position would be suitable for someone with a Master’s degree in Public Health, epidemiology, statistics, biology, or a similar discipline.
Along with this, the successful applicant will also be able to demonstrate;Experience in analysing, interpreting and manipulation of data using a variety of software platforms;Excellent levels of numeracy as evidenced through experience and/or education with the ability to use numerical analysis methods to develop algorithms and perform computations;Excellent verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated proficiency in scientific writing;Strong skills in decision-making, problem-solving, planning and organising; andDemonstrated capacity to liaise across multiple stakeholders and working effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.We are driving inclusion and diversity as part of the way we work and embrace the diverse career and life experiences of our staff.
