We are seeking a Part Time Research Assistant for approximately 19 hours per week to join our Food Policy team.
The Opportunity:
Our team has received funding for a new and exciting Heart Foundation Vanguard nutrition project, GrainSwitch. GrainSwitch is an online tool to help consumers choose higher whole grain foods by providing consumers with information about packaged foods and whole grain alternatives.
We are seeking a Research Assistant to support various aspects of the GrainSwitch project within the Nutrition Science Program.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Work closely with the Research Fellow to carry out various research responsibilities, including preparing and submitting Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) applications, aiding in participant recruitment, conducting literature reviews, managing data collection, and analysing data
- Keep routine communications with other departments within TGI and external stakeholders to support the work of the team
- Participate in team meetings and activities
- Other tasks as directed by the Research Fellow
Our Successful Candidate
- Degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Biostatistics, Epidemiology or other related field or equivalent experience
- Previous research experience
- Familiar with qualitative and quantitative research methods, and proficient in applying at least one type of the above research methods
- Excellent written language communication skills and ability to draft a wide range of documents
- Strong problem solving, analytical skills and strategic thinking
- Ability to work within a research team and excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent organisational skills, having the ability to organise, take initiative and follow up independently
- Methodical and systematic, with good attention to detail
- Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office packages, EndNote, NVivo and statistical software (e.g STATA, R)
- Strong focus on quality of work
