The Opportunity
The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering located within the Faculty of Engineering is seeking applications for a Research Fellow - Automation and Data Science Engineer / Scientist.
The Research Fellow will manage a new automated research platform (High-Throughput Energy Materials Discovery Platform – HEMP). The platform is dedicated to the discovery of new energy materials and funded by the Australian Centre for Advanced Photovoltaics and other major stakeholders such as Monash University, CSIRO and ANFF.
The funding was awarded to researchers at ACAP’s Monash University node and the instrument will be located at the Melbourne Centre for Nanofabrication. The platform is a 10-meter-long robotic system which combines all aspects of a modern materials development laboratory for solution processable (printable) semiconductors.
The highly motivated individual will take responsibility for the Automation and Data management aspects of this research tool. This represents a unique stepping stone for academic as well as professional careers.
The successful candidate will have research or work experience in the field of automation, Data Science or mechatronic. Ideally this includes the software and/or hardware integration of scientific equipment. Experience in successfully supervising, mentoring and coaching to support the development of research staff and/or a demonstrated trajectory of leadership capability.
