The Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation is a Registered Aboriginal Party (RAP) appointed under the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006 (Vic.). We represent the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Traditional Owners of Melbourne and the Greater Melbourne region, and we take great pride in our responsibility for protecting and managing Aboriginal cultural heritage objects and places on Wurundjeri Country. The Corporation offers a range of cultural services including cultural heritage consultation, environmental land management, cross-cultural education, traditional Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremonies, research and cultural consultations.
THE ROLE
Due to internal progression, we have an opportunity available for a Research Officer. Reporting to the Manager, Research Unit, this role will be responsible for data collection and analysis, preparation of reports, transcribing interviews, data entry, assisting with project meetings and workshops as well as maintenance of research materials, on-Country activities and associated administrative tasks as required.
ABOUT YOU
The successful candidate will be highly efficient, well organised, helpful and systematic in their approach. They will hold:
- Tertiary qualifications in Anthropology, Indigenous Studies, History (Australian) or Archaeology
- Experience with ethnographic and qualitative research
- Some knowledge of Aboriginal cultures and the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006
- Superior written and verbal communication skills
- Effective administrative skills
