About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced project manager with a passion for research and innovation. As the Research Strategy Project Officer (RSPO) within the Chancellery Research and Enterprise (CRE) team, you will play a vital role in supporting the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) to achieve the University’s strategic research objectives. With a focus on research collaboration, you will have the opportunity to coordinate and develop strategic research initiatives, collaborate with key stakeholders, and contribute to the overall success of the University’s research ambitions. This role offers a dynamic and diverse environment, where your project management skills, communication abilities and adaptability will be highly valued.

This is a twelve-month parental leave back-fill opportunity. The specific initiatives and priorities for the twelve-month appointment will be discussed with the applicants for the role.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conduct desktop research and analysis to prepare reports, correspondence, briefing notes and presentations for the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research), relevant Pro Vice-Chancellors Executive Director (Research Strategy) and other senior colleagues as requested.
  • Work collaboratively across the organisation to support the effective delivery of research strategies, policies and targets that reflect the vision and aspirations of the institution as reflected in the Advancing Melbourne strategy.
  • Provide high-quality project support and project administration/coordination across CRE research collaboration activities including new initiatives to plan for and support research.

Who we are looking for

We’re looking for an experienced Project Officer with strong verbal and written communication skills. You also need to have efficient organisational and planning skills. You thrive in complex environments, use your sharp communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills to forge connections, assess challenges, and provide innovative solutions that garner support from stakeholders at various levels.

You will also have:

  • A degree level qualification with subsequent relevant work-related experience or equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute and track complex project plans and communicate reporting data to various stakeholders.
  • Multi-tasking skills: juggling projects and supporting senior colleagues, with discretion and good judgement.
  • Advanced level of word processing, spreadsheet software packages, email, electronic calendars, the MS Office Suite, internet browsers, including filing and retrieval of documents; tables; graphics, data presentation and the ability to learn new applications
