Purpose of the Position
The Residential Officer is the focal point for all Residential enquiries on Batchelor Campus, regarding information and processes related student, staff, and external clientele accommodation. The Residential Officer is employed to provide a safe, secure, and culturally appropriate residential environment for both students, staff, and external clientele. This position will assist in the day-to-day operations of the Student Experience Directorate to enhance the experience of students.
Duties
- Monitor & maintain the Residential accommodation booking system.
- Liaison with trainers, student travel and security relating to students in residence.
- Action student travel workshop schedules for Batchelor Campus.
- Liaise with the Catering team for special dietary requirements of students.
- Identify repair & maintenance requirements of residences.
- Assist with the organization of Institute buses assigned for student usage.
- Provision of social, emotional, wellbeing and pastoral support for students in residence.
- Maintain the linen stores and arrange the laundry and dry-cleaning services.
- Assist the Coordinator in resolution of student concerns and complaints within Residence.
- Assist students with Special needs requirements within the residence whilst on campus.
- Assist with regular building & infrastructure audits within Residences.
- Assist with Orientations for VET and Higher Education & Research students and candidates, Institute staff and prospective clients.
- Undertake other duties within the range of skills associated with this classification as directed by the line manager.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in culturally diverse teams within the social, political, and cultural environments of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, communities, and organisations.
- Highly effective interpersonal skills including proficient and oral communication which can be adapted to meet the needs of people from all educational levels and cultural backgrounds.
