Join the Foyer Oxford team and as a Residential Youth Worker support young people living there.  You will build relationships with and provide emotional practical and support to young people, especially in times of crisis. You will implement individualised safety and wellbeing strategies and provide practical support and advocacy to young people as deemed appropriate and agreed. You will deliver youth work support in line with developed case management plans and facilitate opportunities for learning and development of independent living skills. 

As a member of the wider Foyer team you will seek to engage young people in the Foyer community and will actively create opportunities for engagement through arts, crafts, sports, performing arts and other special interests or hobbies. 

This is a casual opportunity based in Leederville, with various hours and shifts available, including evening work, nights and weekends (shift penalties apply). 


To be successful in this role you will have the following skills and experience: 

  • Certificate IV in Youth Work or equivalent skills and experience
  • Ability to engage and build strong relationships with and motivate ‘at risk’ young people
  • Ability to work independently and appropriately respond to crises as necessary
  • Ability to accept, respect and work with young people:
    • from a broad range of backgrounds and abilities
    • from different cultures, particularly with Aboriginal & CaLD young people
    • who may identify as LGBTI
    • from all belief systems
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated behaviour management, conflict resolution, advocacy and negotiation skills
  • Record keeping skills, including the ability to work with computer software packages
  • Up to date knowledge of resources in the youth services field
  • Some flexibility for shifts, including weekends, public holidays and sleep-overs

The successful candidate must also possess a current National Police Clearance valid within the last 12 months, a WA Working with Children Check and a current First Aid Certificate.

  • A competitive hourly rate of $45 (including casual loading) + 11% superannuation, plus shift penalties where applicable
