About the role
Reporting to the Engineering Manager at the Port Botany terminal, you will be responsible for optimising and prioritising maintenance resources, to ensure all engineering maintenance work at the terminal & workshop is performed safely and effectively.
As Resourcing and Workshop Manager, you will manage a team of Shift Supervisors and oversee the performance of our engineering and mechanical tradespersons who are responsible for maintaining heavy mobile equipment, fixed plant and facilities in an efficient and economical manner, to enable the business to deliver a superior service to our customers.
Key accountabilities
- Oversee the general shift management by monitoring performance, communication and accountability of work groups.
- Ensure safe work practices are employed at all times
- Provide compliance reports for set KPI's.
- Collaborate with key service providers and repairers off & on site in accordance with the Container Terminal Site Contractor Management plan.
- Ensure repairs and maintenance activities within the workshop environment are carried out to an acceptable engineering standard & time frame.
- Financial accountability for designated projects & labour efficiency
Experience, skills and qualifications
This role will suit a focused individual with a strong maintenance background in a heavy manufacturing, mining, utilities, aircraft, or similar environment.
You will be able to evidence a high standard of planning and prioritising preventative and corrective maintenance tasks and building high performing teams in a unionised workplace.
- Qualification in mechanical or electrical engineering trade is required
- Engineering certificate or Engineering diploma is desirable
- Experience in the heavy equipment industry
- Demonstrated ability to operate and make changes within a heavily unionised environment
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with management and service providers
- Strong organisational skills
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in creating a safe working environment
- Demonstrated experience in computer-based maintenance management systems (Maximo preferred)
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
