An opportunity for a trade qualified Fitter Machinist or Toolmaker with experience in managing a team to oversee all aspects of operations in a Metal Forming Workshop.

About the role
The role holder is responsible for managing all aspects of operations including managing staff, workflow, and WHS, and ensuring DIFOTQ. This is a small-to-medium business, so there may be times when you’re required to provide hands-on support, so a Fitter Machinist trade qualification is essential.
Responsibilities
- Planning, coordinating, and monitoring the manufacturing process to achieve DIFOTQ
- Efficiently scheduling human and material resources
- Identifying and implementing continual improvements in the production process
- Managing and motivating the workshop team, and assisting with recruitment
- Maintaining WHS procedures and being proactive in ensuring a safe and healthy workplace for self and others
- Overseeing equipment maintenance
- Overseeing purchasing for production
Skills and attributes
- Minimum 3 years’ managerial experience in a production environment
- Ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships and to lead and motivate staff
- Excellent understanding of manufacturing processes
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Mechanical aptitude
- Good organisational and time management skills and the ability to multitask
- High attention to detail
- High level competency in the use and maintenance of equipment
