Job Summary
The Rig Mechanic is responsible for all mechanical systems on the drilling rig and camp facility. Ensures that all mechanical systems, plant and equipment is safe and complies with relevant standards and codes.
Specific Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Responsible for all mechanical systems on the drilling rig and camp facility
- Ensures that all mechanical systems, plant and equipment are safe and complies with relevant standards and codes.
- Adopt Company preventive maintenance system to contract.
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks and inspections as per company policies and procedures.
- Provide instruction and supervision to mechanical maintenance support staff.
- Contributes proactively to maintenance programs and targets.
- Complete all work orders assigned to you in the EAM in a timely manner. Enter in the work order all the information required for each section of the work order. Only sign off the work order when all the relevant information is completed.
- Establishes with realistic maintenance programs and targets.
- Maintain inventory of spare parts and emergency `spares.
- Manage inspection and re-certification of critical components as per contract.
- Provide hands-on refurbishment of Company owned equipment.
- Provide technical support as required to ensure uninterrupted field activities.
- Establishes correctly isolating procedures for the safe maintenance of plant and equipment and ensures that all relevant personnel are aware of these practices and procedures.
- Reports directly to the Rig Manager on all aspects of mechanical related issues and maintains a visible commitment towards safety.
- Keeps Maintenance Manager informed about any issues, that may be deemed as un-safe or non-compliant or not according to acceptable trade practice.
Maintain detailed maintenance records for work completed using company systems
Qualifications
- Trade Certificate Mechanic (Min. Cert III essential)
- Current, unrestricted Manual Driver's License (essential)
- Provide First Aid and CPR
- Wellsite Permit to Work Rev 3 Training
- Operate Vehicles in the Field 4 x 4 Training
- Industry Safety / Drilling and Completions General Induction (QLD)
- Confined Space Training
- Breathing Apparatus Training
Technical Competencies
2 years minimum similar experience in resources industry working in FIFO and remote conditions
Preferred Experience with:
- Previous Oil and Gas or Mining Industry Experience
- Heavy Diesel Experience
- Caterpillar & Detroit Engine
- Hydraulics
- Nissan, Toyota & Isuzu 4 x 4 Vehicles
- Centrifugal Pumps
- Hydraulic systems open & closed loop
- Pneumatic systems
- Computer literate with MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook
- Incident Recording and Investigation
- Stock & Purchasing Field Over

Education and Experience
- 5 years similar experience in the oil and gas industry
