About the role
In this role you will lead the provision of Risk services to support Sydney Water Major Projects team, as part of the Project Controls department. The role will lead risk management strategies and systems to manage risk across the projects lifecycles and to provide risk management advice and assurance.
Reporting to Project Controls Manager will be responsible for:
- Establishing and implementing risk management processes within Sydney Water
- Establish issue and ensure application of appropriate Strategies, Standards and Procedures for Risk Management, whilst proactively working with the business to encourage project management leading practice
- Provide advice and report on risk and assurance to the allocated team, in alignment with the Sydney Water Enterprise Risk Management Framework
- Support the delivery of scheduled Major Projects Risk Reviews, and guidance of risk workshops as required and/or identified by Infrastructure Investment and Asset Performance team
- Guide the risk team and provide advice to Major Projects Leadership on process reviews and consolidation of Operational Risks
- Coordinate the identification and treatment of business area risks within Major Projects
- Coach and mentor staff and managers on the importance of enterprise risk policy and processes
- Provide Project support to implement risk management processes
- Schedule and oversee periodical deterministic and probabilistic cost and schedule risk analysis to inform initial and ongoing contingency in accordance with IP-IMO procedures
- Improve risk management performance by establishing, assessing and evaluating risk management performance indicators and how to carry out appropriate changes to improve risk management performance
- Implementation of other deliverables as defined in the Project Controls Deliverables Matrix.
Skills and Experience needed:
- Demonstrated skill applying risk management concepts and frameworks.
- Demonstrated proficiency in similar type of role in a large-scale, complex projects / programs
- Strong technical skills in project controls - cost planning, scheduling, cost control, risk, and reporting
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to solve practical problems and deal with variables where only limited standardisation exists
- Tertiary qualifications in engineering, construction, project management or in a similar discipline or experience deemed equivalent
