A firmly established Transport & Logistics enterprise located on the outskirts of Wollongong is currently seeking a key member to join its Senior Management team. This pivotal leadership role entails significant responsibility for managing operational aspects within the General Division for Road Transport.
The position involves enhancing performance and cultivating a supportive culture across multiple domains, including operations, customer service, safety, efficiency, and compliance.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES –
Management
- Contributing as a management team member while adhering to company policies and procedures.
- Ensuring compliance with company directives by assuming overall responsibility for road costings and overseeing associated systems within the business unit.
- Supporting the COO in implementing systemic enhancements through the road interface to fulfill company cost and efficiency objectives.
- Conducting high-level interactions with Customers, Outsourced Transport Carriers, 3PL Warehouse providers, and internal Managers to ensure the smooth operation of the extensive Supply Chain network and to ensure customer satisfaction with services.
- Overseeing the Road Transport supply chain to ensure optimal efficiency, safety, competitiveness, profitability, customer satisfaction, and reliability.
- Establishing yourself as the main point of contact for local general Road Transport affairs within operations, maintaining consistent collaboration with other departments to ensure effective communication throughout all operational activities.
- Demonstrating outstanding skills in planning, organizing, and problem-solving, along with strong leadership abilities to inspire, motivate, and influence colleagues.
- Overseeing operational performance to meet key performance indicators (KPIs), budgets, and contractual service level agreements.
- Ensuring efficient management and utilisation of fleet equipment and human resources for optimal performance.
- Ensuring that all business activities and employees within the position's area of control comply with all legislative/statutory obligations, company policies, standards, and procedures.
- Adherence to all company transport policies to maintain company compliance whilst also ensuring the requirements of the company's Chain of Responsibility (CoR) management system are implemented and complied with in the designated areas.

- Overseeing and proficiently handling fatigue, and organising workloads to guarantee safety and efficiency for all involved in operations.
- Adhering to and aligning with a thorough understanding of NHVR regulations and CoR responsibilities.
- Developing relationships with customers and taking on the initiative to develop new business opportunities beneficial to customers and the organisation.
- Develop and manage designated budget responsibilities.
- Mentoring, coaching, and developing the Road and Warehousing Logistics team to provide ongoing opportunities for staff to develop their experience, skills, and knowledge.

- Possess extensive Road Transport Management experience across a large operation or numerous sites.
- In-depth knowledge of Road Transport with the ability to identify operational services with the capability to deliver solutions.

- General, bulk freight, project freight, and heavy haulage knowledge.
- Knowledge of load restraint requirements across a variety of freight types.
- Understanding of NHVR PBS, permit, and road access systems.
