Job description

Booroongen Djugun specialises in providing Community and Residential Care services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders in the Kempsey area. A space to access culturally-informed care. We’re also a Registered Training Organisation, offering vocational education and training to staff and community members looking to broaden their horizons and enter the workforce.
Booroongen was designed with the totems of fire, water, earth, and sun in mind, in order to support the strong ties to traditional life that many clients of Booroongen Djugun hold.

You will be responsible for managing a team of staff to develop and deliver effective learning programs that ensure student completions are achieved in accordance with business objectives and funding targets.  This includes coordination and facilitation of high-quality training programs, both nationally accredited and non-accredited programs in relevant industry areas within the Mid-North Coast and surrounding areas.

You will play a key role in helping us grow our student base by assisting in developing, reviewing and implementing of:

  • Training and Assessment Strategies
  • Learner Guides
  • Assessment Tools
  • Session Plans
  • Training Plans

Key responsibilities and duties

  • Provide support to trainers and assessors and other direct staff, and plan and allocate effectively.
  • Update and develop training and competency content and training packages.
  • Identify, source and partner with subject matter experts and trainers to assist in the development of training and competency content.
  • Ensure a high standard of service delivery to students/trainees by providing detailed program information, efficient enrolment procedures, quality monitoring, counselling and support.
  • Manage student registrations, including Traineeship requirements in collaboration with the Marketing and Communications Officer to streamline student registration processes.
  • Lead Booroongen Djugun Training College assessment validation activities to maintain the alignment of assessment with industry expectations and training package requirements.
  • In collaboration with HR, coordinate and deliver staff training to meet their BDL’s needs.  Forecast training requirements and resources to deliver staff training that maintains current competency in all mandatory training requirements.
  • Oversee training administration and records including storage, retrieval and archiving commensurate with RTO standards.  Monitor data entry and documentation into the Learning Management System
  • Produce statistical training data and reporting for senior management and the Compliance manager on a regular basis to support decision making.
  • Address and adeptly resolve any concerns or issues from Employers/Students.
  • Implement process and system solutions to facilitate continuous improvement.
  • Assist with College marketing and be responsible for providing relevant material for campaign planning/delivery and website content.
  • Cross-collaboration with the wider business including Operations, Health & Safety, Human Resources and Business Services.
  • Build and maintain relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders, ranging from industry peers to governmental bodies

Core Competencies/Requirements/Experience

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander encouraged position
  • Sound cultural knowledge and understanding of engaging and providing cultural safe services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
  • The ability to engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Advisors withing Booroongen Djugun and other Leading Aboriginal services within the Mid North Coast region
  • A thorough understanding of the Standard's for RTO's and how to operationalise them into every day practice
  • Experience in learning and assessment product development
  • Understanding of the ASQA performance assessment process
  • Experience in using an RTO student management system
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Strong level of interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication and organisation
  • Hold a Trainer and Assessor (TAE) or above qualification
  • Ability to provide leadership in VET curriculum and work collaboratively in a supervisory position to achieve outcomes
