Lismore Community Health is seeking an Aboriginal Health Clinician to coordinate as part of a new program called Safe Wayz, an integrated response for children under the age of criminal responsibility (currently 10 years in NSW) with problematic or harmful sexual behaviours (PHSBs). Safe Wayz adopts a strength based, family focused and culturally centred trauma informed approach to working with children and families to help prevent behaviours from escalating.
Coordinating primary prevention initiatives, providing early support for children and families to address behaviours when they are first identified, and coordinating pathways into specialist counselling services for children and families who need them. Undertaking a small clinical case load and coordinating cultural consultation to support non-Aboriginal clinicians working with Aboriginal children and families.
The successful applicant will have a professional development plan in place that will provide the opportunity for work based development which allows for progression through the Award levels in accordance with the incumbent's skill acquisition. It is an expectation that staff appointed who undertake to complete the required qualifications will complete these within a defined time frame. Staff not meeting these expectations will be reviewed with a possible outcome of termination of employment.
About you:
- Tertiary qualifications and, where applicable, membership of the relevant association or registration with the relevant board, in one of the following disciplines: Social Work, Counselling or Welfare. Professionals who fall under the Health Professionals State Award will be employed at Level 1 or must provide evidence of appropriate clinical experience and knowledge to appointed at a higher level in alignment with the award. OR Registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia. Willingness to undertake or have completed Education Centre Against Violence (ECAV) qualification pathway - Graduate Certificate in Human and Community Services (Interpersonal Trauma)

- Demonstrated ability to create Aboriginal community connections, engagement and collaboration to affect outcomes with an understanding of intergenerational trauma, child sexual abuse and the principles of family focused intervention with the ability to engage with young people who have sexually harmed and with their families, including Aboriginal children and families
- Demonstrated ability to effectively work with Aboriginal communities in culturally competent ways and commitment to addressing Aboriginal health and community needs
