Having a pivotal seat at the table with the Australian Leadership team at Visy Logistics, you'll play a significant role in partnering closely with our Leadership Team nationally and be a driving force in enhancing Safety and Wellbeing practices by implementing proactive safety measures focusing primarily on warehouse and transport safety.
With a workforce of over 700 team members and growing, this role will be pivotal in driving forward the safety culture to “best in class”, through your leadership and strategic partnerships.
Key Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Develop site/state safety plans (following initial safety assessment) and establish State Safety Committees to oversee safety improvements.
- Conduct comprehensive safety assessments and audits, providing actionable insights to mitigate risks and enhance safety standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess and mitigate safety risks associated with equipment, processes, and facilities.
- Provide leadership and guidance to foster a strong proactive safety culture and promote safe work practices.
- Champion safety culture development efforts by engaging with teams at all levels, fostering awareness, and promoting best practices.
- Lead investigations into safety incidents, leveraging root cause analysis techniques to implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Facilitate safety training sessions and workshops, ensuring that employees possess the necessary knowledge and skills to operate safely.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to safety performance, incidents, and compliance activities.
- Stay abreast of regulatory changes, industry trends, and emerging technologies to continuously enhance safety practices.
To be considered you must have:
- Deep understanding of safety regulations and standards governing warehouse and transportation operations in Australia. Including knowledge of the Heavy Vehicle National Law and COR
- Demonstrated ability working with Safety and quality management systems and Australian Standards (AS4801/4804).
- Experience in Safety management frameworks associated with Logistics operations
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for identifying safety hazards and implementing effective controls.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, adept at building relationships and influencing stakeholders at all levels.
- Proven leadership experience, inspiring teams to embrace safety as a core value and driving meaningful change.
- Proficiency in delivering engaging safety training sessions and developing educational materials.
- Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills, capable of managing multiple priorities effectively.
- Sound judgment and decision-making skills, particularly in high-pressure situations.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and a willingness to embrace new ideas and technologies to enhance safety performance.
