The Health & Safety Department at Mount Magnet are seeking a Safety & Emergency Officer to join the team. Ideally, we are looking for you to have strengths in the safety and medical components with some exposure to leading the site emergency response training and attendance.
Working 8 days on, 6 days off, this is a permanent opportunity FIFO from Perth or DIDO from Geraldton.
Reporting to the Health & Safety Superintendent, this role will:
- Facilitate inductions and Safety Information Presentations.
- Assist in the development of Mine Safety Management System.
- Development of the Mine Emergency Management System.
- Facilitate Emergency Response Team Training and Development.
- Maintain Emergency Response Assets.
- Facilitate Incident Investigations.
- Administer the INX event and training management database.
- Maintain site First Aid Facilities & site Poison Permit compliance.
- Provide interim treatment to site personnel that present with low grade injuries or medical conditions and arrange offsite additional treatment when required.
- Assist in the administration of Fitness for Work and Injury Management processes.
- Promote a safe and healthy working environment for all employees, contractors and our site visitors.

ABOUT YOU
To be successful in this role, we would like to see;
- Certificate IV in Pre-Hospital Health Care (minimum) or higher medical treatment qualifications. (Mandatory)
- Certificate III in Mine Emergency Response and Rescue. (Mandatory)
- Ideally, at least 1 – 2 years’ experience in a comparable role working within an underground mining environment.
- Cert IV Occupational Health and Safety (desired)
- Cert IV Training and Assessment (desired)
- Closed Circuit Breathing Apparatus (desired)
- Exposure to Worksafe act & Mining Regulations
- Have excellent communication skills and a positive, solution focused attitude.
- A West Australian C class driver’s license (manual) and the ability to obtain a National Police Clearance for site access clearance purposes.
