The Opportunity

Do you have knowledge of and a real passion for all things Work Health and Safety (WHS) and employee wellbeing? Do you want to join a dynamic, hardworking and customer focused team that is at the centre of the Department’s WHS and wellbeing culture? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you!

We are seeking two (2) highly motivated and experienced WHS Officers to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing guidance and assistance on a range of WHS issues to the organisation, working collaboratively as a team to plan and execute safety and wellbeing programs. Your role will include conducting site audits and inspections, incident investigations and supporting the organisation to achieves a strong safety culture.

There are currently two (2) permanent positions available for immediate filling.

Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments will be made for this or similar future vacancies (fixed term or permanent) that arise within the next 12 months date of first appointment across the Department of Transport.

  2. A four (4) page written application addressing the below Selection Criteria as stated on the JDF:

SC1: Experience and proven ability in the provision of WHS services.
SC2: Proven ability to undertake WHS system audits and inspections of workplaces for the identification of hazards, and proven ability to undertake incident investigations
SC4: Sound interpersonal and communication skills with an emphasis on being able to build productive relationships with stakeholders, deliver training and education, and good written skills.
SC6: Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as part of a tea.

  1. The CV must contain the complete names and contact information of two (2) referees who can provide feedback on the applicant's capacity to meet all the Essential Work-Related Requirements. At least one of the referees should be the applicant's immediate (most recent) supervisor/manager unless there are exceptional circumstances.
