About the opportunity
Are you ready to be a part of a dynamic team in a thriving business? We're on the lookout for a passionate and dedicated Safety, Environment & Project Officer to lead our safety initiatives and ensure the well-being of our team members.
Due to operational requirements, this role will be based on-site, spending your time across both sites located at Altona and Sunshine West.
Responsibilities
- Execute defined OHS strategies to mitigate the risk of incidents and injuries
- Identify hazards, assess risks to health and safety, and implement suitable controls
- Coordinate projects with contractors
- Execute and maintain preventative maintenance schedule of plant and equipment
- Build positive relationships with key stakeholders to foster a strong safety culture
- Ensure compliance with OHS legislation and industry best practices
- Deliver regular in-house training programs and maintain current training records
- Conduct onboarding and induction for new employees, contractors, and visitors
- Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions
We believe in providing opportunities for individuals committed to learning and excellence. While prior experience in a similar role is preferred, we are open to providing necessary training if you:
- Hold a Cert IV or higher in OHS
- 5+ years experience in a safety role, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Possess a current unrestricted driver's licence, with a forklift licence being desirable
- Demonstrate outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively
- Have a high level of attention to detail and accuracy in documentation
- Can interpret technical information into laymen’s terms
- Work autonomously and thrive under critical deadlines
- Have a basic understanding of chemical formulation or a strong interest in gaining exposure to the industry
