About the Role
Reporting directly to the Safety, Quality & Sustainability Manager for the Oceania region, the primary focus for this mid-level position will be to ensure that Safety remains at the forefront of everything that we do here in Oceania by providing guidance and framework for key stakeholders both locally and globally.
This role joins a professional and friendly Safety, Quality and Sustainability team who work across multiple sites in Melbourne from our Equipment Processing Centers based in the Western suburbs to the RoRo Auto terminal at Port Melbourne. The team also provides business partnering to remote sites located in WA, QLD, NSW and NZ
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Spending maximum time with our workforce, educating them on employee rights and obligations under the Act, and promoting engagement in our Safety 1st work culture.
- Develop and execute health and safety plans according to internal and external policies and guidelines.
- Support our team's compliance towards safety management systems.
- Facilitate training on health and safety matters, and accident prevention.
- Regularly undertake worksite observational risk assessments, taking corrective actions as applicable.
- Investigate accidents or incidents to discover causes and identify actionable measures to prevent their reoccurrence.
- Report on health and safety awareness, issues, and statistics.
- Conduct Safety audits in line with safety management systems.
Mandatory Skills and Experience:
- 3 years' experience in a similar role with incident investigation experience.
- Cert IV in WHS
Desirable Skills and Experience:
- Cert IV Training & Assessment
- Preferred experience in a blue-collar & union environment
- Demonstrated background in developing documentation, policies, procedures, SoP’s & training material.
