The Role
We are seeking a dedicated Safety Partner to join our dynamic Safety & Wellbeing team. This role is pivotal in enhancing work health and safety systems through excellent job design and proactive safety management. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in transforming our work environment and culture by providing expert WHS advice and support to our employees and leadership teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Integrate and enhance health and safety practices within council operations.
- Conduct comprehensive audits and inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Lead investigations into workplace incidents and develop preventive measures.
- Apply risk management strategies to mitigate potential hazards.
- Develop and review safety system documentation to keep key documentation up-to-date.
- Deliver training sessions to staff on various aspects of safety and injury management
- Provide strategic WHS advice and support tailored to specific business units.
- Influence and negotiate safety improvements at all organisational levels.
- Manage and optimise WHS compliance systems and safety platforms.
- Continually review and update our Work Health and Safety system in accordance with WHS Acts, Regulations, and Codes of Practice.
- Extensive involvement in workplace rehabilitation, managing Workers’ compensation claims, and facilitating effective return-to-work processes.
About You
- Tertiary qualifications in Work Health and Safety, Injury Management and/or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in leading safety initiatives and stakeholder management within a diverse organisation.
- Proficient in the use of safety platforms and electronic systems for WHS management.
- Experience in workplace injury management, rehabilitation, and return-to-work practices.
- Excellent analytical and negotiation skills, with a capability to produce user-friendly safety reports and strategic analysis.
