The Role
We are looking for a Safety Systems Officer to provide support on assigned Quality, Safety and Security related activities under the direction of the Manager Safety & Quality Systems and to follow up on corrective measures in line with Skytraders Safety Management System and the Regulatory Body’s requirements to ensure compliance with same, across assigned functions and areas of operation.
Responsibilities
The Safety System Officer will be responsible for:
- Actively participating in the development and implementation of Skytraders security & safety policies along with procedures and related manuals in accordance with regulatory requirements and in accordance with the organisation’s overall policies, procedures, and company objectives,
- Assisting in the development of safety & security bulletins for the purpose of sharing experience within the company,
- Performing day-to-day management of internal reports and investigations to ensure effective implementation of corrective actions,
- Disseminating quality, safety and security information to promote the exchange of such information company wide,
- Assisting in the conducting of quality, safety, security audits and inspections and the follow-up of effective implementation of corrective actions,
- Monitoring regulatory requirements associated with Safety Systems (quality, safety and security) and ensuring relevant managers are updated and assisted with the implementation of resultant changes,
- Generating function related reports on a regular basis and providing management with highlights and detail of both actual and potential areas of concern,
- Developing and conducting relevant training (SMS and Security) for staff as required,
- Assisting with day-to-day management of Safety Systems (SMS, Security, Quality, HF and DISP).
- Assisting the Manager Safety and Quality Systems in carrying out his responsibilities and in the conduct of any other duties on his behalf when required.
Qualification and Attributes
The Safety System Officer qualifications and attributes should include:
- A comprehensive understanding of the aviation industry,
- A broad operational knowledge and experience in the safety or quality or security functions of a similar organisation (aviation/airline preferred),
- The successful applicant should have and will maintain a good understanding of CASA requirements and awareness of other regulatory requirements (WHS, TSP).
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma combined with necessary experience and exposure.
- Previous experience in conducting internal training and audits (preferred),
- Previous experience in Human Factor training (preferred),
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Advanced Excel and PowerPoint),
- Good written and verbal communication skills: reporting, presentations.
