Maryborough Central State School is seeking a Schools Officer, Grounds and Facilities for a temporary part-time (0.4FTE or 30.4 hours per fortnight) commencing 1 April 2024 until 13 December 2024, unless otherwise determined. As the Schools Officer, Grounds and Facilities you will contribute to the efficient and effective operation and environment of the school by providing a high level of Grounds and Facilities.
This is a OO2 progression position as per the Role Description. The successful applicant will be appointed to the OO2 classification with eligibility for progression to the OO3 level once specific criteria have been met. Please note salary rate shown is reflective of OO2 to OO3 classification range.

Maryborough Central State School celebrated it's 150th Birthday on the 10th March 2012. Our school is the oldest public school in the Wide Bay region.
Maryborough Central State School is located on Kent Street and it is surrounded by beautiful old jacaranda and fig trees which add to the character of the magnificent heritage listed buildings.
About the Role:
Responsibilities include, but not limited to;
- Attend to/or arrange repairs and maintenance within the school, including those which relate to furniture and equipment; locks and windows; swimming pools (e.g. maintaining proper water quality, testing water, keeping records of tests, adjusting/adding chemicals as consistent with occupational, health and safety (WHS) guidelines and procedures); and school facilities.
- Provide basic maintenance of equipment specific to schools with students with disabilities.
- Communicate and discuss with Principal/Business Manager or nominated delegate on matters regarding periodic maintenance of facilities.
- Liaise with various internal and external personnel (e.g. tradespersons) and students on issues of lost property and damage to facilities.
You will perform a range of activities to ensure that the school is maintained to a high standard; follow set instructions; and have independence to perform a variety of day to day services that are routine in nature. However, the role receives regular supervision when undertaking duties that are non-routine in nature.
