Access the
Exercise independent scientific judgement in providing high level advice regarding the requirements for and interpretation of Molecular Haematology testing to both scientists and medical staff on a state-wide basis in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards.
Key competencies (role specific criteria)
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrated knowledge, expertise and skill in the delivery of scientific judgement within a molecular biology laboratory, particularly in the field of diagnostic haematology.
- Demonstrated ability to provide scientific services of a complex nature to ensure the maintenance of professional clinical standards and established principles / procedures.
- Demonstrated ability and skills to develop and validate molecular assays for mutation screening and minimal residual disease monitoring using a variety of platforms including quantitative real time Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), digital PCR and Next-generation sequencing (NGS).
- Demonstrated ability to actively participate in a team environment and to communicate effectively with clients, clinical staff, and colleagues.
- Demonstrated ability to provide advice to laboratory and medical staff on the suitability of testing and interpretation of results pertaining to Molecular
- Demonstrated ability (or ability to rapidly acquire the skill) to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation/certification.
- The successful applicant must hold at least a relevant tertiary degree (or equivalent) qualification in molecular science.
