The Role
The Directorate of Governance and Coordination is seeking a Security Advisor to support the Vice Chief of the Defence Force (VCDF) and the VCDF Group (VCDFG). The position has two overarching responsibilities; VCDFG Executive Security Advisor and Command Support Branch Security Officer.
The role involves self-driven improvement initiatives, regular corporate reporting, support to our personnel and Security Officers, committee support to senior leaders, and contributing to developing and implementing security frameworks and policies.
You will juggle multiple priorities, participate in enterprise-level security workshops, coordinate tasks, engage with a wide range of stakeholders and manage and support security tasks for the VCDFG, such as security clearances, security incidents, security standing orders, physical assets, staffing and travel briefings.
Please note this is not a physical security role, rather a governance, strategic and advisory role.
The successful applicant will have access to relevant learning and development opportunities to support success in the role.
About our Team
The Directorate of Governance and Coordination provides corporate enabling functions to VCDFG and ADFHQ. The Directorate oversees security, ministerial coordination, and governance, assurance and risk.
You will pivot between working on longer-term policy proposals and projects, and high-priority urgent tasks that demand whole-of-team collaboration and effort.
We reside in Defence's strategic centre. This means you will be afforded closeness and trust with our senior leadership, remit to influence whole-of-enterprise initiatives, and opportunities to make positive changes.
